I came across a tutorial that showed how to make an abstract paint splatter using the image of a person in Photoshop. A good bit of it was layer masks and it was rather simple, so I decided to give it a try just for fun. Often when I’m learning a skill in Photoshop, I just practice on an image of myself, but that gets boring sometimes, so I decided to use a cute image of my friends Shelley and Chris’ son, Zach. I visited them not long ago and Zach decided to take my sunglasses and pose for some pictures. He’s one of the coolest kids you’ll ever encounter and he’s quite photogenic. I thought that the paint splatter effect would also fit the image of a child well since it’s so playful.
If you’re interested in seeing how I created this image, click here to view the tutorial I used. I didn’t follow it exactly, but enough to get my desired effects. If you want to see the full-sized image of Zach, click on the image above and it will take you to a larger image.

Try to keep it a bit cleaner (and simpler) next time.
Cheers.

Thanks for your comment, Abhimanyu. You’re right, if I were to rework this, I would have toned down the paint splatters behind the text and possibly used different fonts. Since it was one of those “for fun” projects, I decided not to spend too much time on it. Thanks again! All the best.

I have added the download option for the resources and the Psd file to the tutorial. Download it if you want..
